Assembling The EGO Cordless Trimmer For Use

Installing the EGO string trimmer is fairly easy. The telescopic unit unfolds and is then held in place with a bolt that is supplied. The handle is bolted in separately, as is the black plastic guard on the bottom of the trimmer per the instructions included.

EGO has made the assembly rather simple. We’ve seen some brands that are difficult to piece together. A lack of assembly hassle goes a long way in making a good first impression of the EGO tool. The EGO cordless string trimmer was tested out as an edge trimmer on grass. And we even hacked away at an area of tall grass. This unit could handle everything we threw at it with no issue. As you will expect from a string trimmer, the thicker the weeds and grass you chop away at, the faster you work your way through the string.

The 5 Ah battery held its charge quite easily for the speeds we needed. With the 2.5 Ah battery you should get about 30-40 mins of trimming. Overall, this is an outstanding cordless string trimmer that matches a gas-powered one easily.

What’s Good About The EGO Cordless Electric Leaf Blower 650 CFM

Our favorite feature of this unit is the simple string re-loading system. Anyone can do it and you get a perfectly wound string each time. We were also impressed with the lightweight frame of the trimmer and the adjustable length of the trimmer through the telescoping pole.

There are two speed settings, low and high. Weed whacking and grass trimming on the edges work well on the low speed. For taller grass and larger patches of significantly overgrown weeds you would want to go with high. Performance-wise, the low setting has enough cutting power. It is something you will use most often for routine garden needs.

The handle is foam-cushioned and comfortable to work with. The telescoping pole lets you adjust enough to accommodate most people’s height and reach.

In the trimmer unit, we were looking to see if the string re-load was as easy as advertised. It was. The weight with battery was also something to check. Overall, the unit is not too heavy and there is an option to add a shoulder strap. See below.
