Fast-food giant McDonald’s USA has announced that it will be serving Krispy Kreme doughnuts at select restaurants in Louisville and the surrounding area. Starting from March 21, approximately 160 locations across Louisville, Lexington, and the surrounding areas will offer three Krispy Kreme fan favorites: the Original Glazed Doughnut, the Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles Doughnut, and the Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut.

Expanded Testing of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at McDonald’s

The decision to expand the market test to a larger scale is a clear indication of the success of the initial test, which began in select McDonald’s locations in the area in 2022. The positive response from customers prompted the companies to expand the test and offer more doughnut options, including the popular Original Glazed Doughnut. This expansion is part of a limited-time test that will enable McDonald’s to gauge customer demand and operational impact on a larger scale.

McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme are two iconic American brands with loyal followings, and this test is part of McDonald’s’ ongoing efforts to give customers what they crave. As Krispy Kreme is known for its freshly baked and delicious doughnuts, McDonald’s will be serving fresh doughnuts daily at participating restaurants. Customers can enjoy doughnuts all day long, in-restaurant, at the drive-thru, via delivery, and on the McDonald’s App. However, the doughnuts will only be available for a limited time, while supplies last.

McDonald’s is always looking for ways to improve its menu offerings, and this test will help the company understand how offering new bakery items like Krispy Kreme doughnuts could impact its restaurant operations. While McDonald’s has been serving breakfast items such as Egg McMuffins and hotcakes for decades, the introduction of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to its menu could attract a new demographic of customers who are looking for a sweet treat to complement their coffee.

McDonald’s And Krispy Kreme Expanded Test

The test will also provide valuable data on customer preferences and help McDonald’s determine whether to expand the Krispy Kreme doughnut offering to other locations or make it a permanent menu item. This move could also help McDonald’s remain competitive in a crowded fast-food industry, where menu innovation is critical to success.

Krispy Kreme is a well-known brand that has been operating for over 80 years and has a loyal fan base of doughnut enthusiasts. The brand is recognized for its hot-off-the-line, melt-in-your-mouth experience, with its Original Glazed doughnut being its most famous product. Krispy Kreme operates in over 30 countries and has a unique network of fresh doughnut shops, partnerships with leading retailers, and a rapidly growing e-commerce and delivery business.

The partnership between Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s is an exciting development for both companies and their customers. The expanded test of selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts at McDonald’s restaurants in the Louisville-Lexington area is a strategic move that is likely to generate excitement among consumers and drive foot traffic to McDonald’s locations. With doughnuts available all day in-restaurant, at the Drive Thru, via McDelivery, and on the McDonald’s App, Krispy Kreme fans will have more access to their favorite sweet treats than ever before.
